About me

About me… 


Hi, my name is Tanya. I am a mom to three children ages 22, 19 and 16. My oldest Jake, is starting his last semester at URI and will be graduating in May with a Mechanical Engineering Degree. My other son is also at RIC and is in his second year studying to be a Physical Eduction teacher. Fun fact is that we are both taking the same class except he is taking the undergrad version. My youngest daughter is a junior in high school. She is a competitive cheerleader and trains over 15 hours a week in her sport. We travel around the country competing. In fact we just came home on Monday from Indianapolis. She has won several national competitions as well as Worlds, where she competed against teams from… you guessed it.. all over the world. My life is my kids and I am happiest when they are all home with me. 


I head to the gym every workday at 5am with my best friend.Its hard getting up but it’s a great way to start my day! When I am not at home I enjoy spending time with friends.


I have two beagles. They are cute but drive me crazy!!!


My sister and I are planning a trip to Portugal this summer. I am very excited about it

Blog 9   Troublemakers - Carla Shalaby Reflection Before reading this preface, I imagined classroom management as one of the most important skills to master as a future teacher. I thought about how I would  maintain  order, set expectations, and handle disruptive behavior.  Th is changed  how I want to think about my future students. When a child refuses to comply, acts out, or makes noise when others are silent,  my first  instinct   would  probably be  to redirect, discipline, or remove.  But what if that child is actually telling me something important about the environment I've created?
